recap of weeks 1 & 2 in the uk (pronounced 'uh-k')

about to start my own strawberry matcha shop here 🍓

hi homies 👋

i feel like so much has changed since my last newsletter (i think i was in peru during my last one which was almost 8 months ago?!). biggest life update is that i’ve quit my job, packed up all my things (except for a box in jiekai’s apartment 😇) and moved to the uk!

it’s been a whirlwind over the last six months in prepping for the move, squeezing in as many girls & homie trips as possible, quitting my job, saying goodbye to the homies 🥺 , crying (a lot), and now, adapting to life in the village that niall grew up in.

💌 life right now (the highlights & lowlights)

i’ve been struggling for the last half hour in figuring out what to include in this section. i think life has felt very different with each month. for instance, i was stressed for the entirety of january until march, then had the time of my life after may 23, cried my heart out on jun 8, and have been feeling unsettled but relaxed since then.

i think life in the uk has been good so far, but just unfamiliar even though i’ve been to niall’s village and bristol a handful number of times before. it just feels wild that there’s no return ticket and that this is my ‘home’ now. village life is quaint. most days, i’ve been applying to jobs, planning our next getaway (aka me convincing niall that we should climb mt olympus), running a 5km loop around some farmer fields and doing evening long bike rides with niall around the countryside. there isn’t much around the village - just a pub, church, community shop and endless fields full of stinging nettle and brambles.

anyways, we are heading to france on saturday which i am very stoked for! we have a cute airbnb in saint gervais les bains (think cute little mountainside town in the alps!!!) for a month. even though we’re there for a while, it feels like our calendars have slightly filled up with us doing parts of the tour de mont blanc for a week (where we get to hike in france, italy and switzerland aaaah!), visiting some homies in geneva for a weekend and then seeing another friend from vancouver in chambéry the following weekend! so very packed but i am quite excited to trail run in the alps, go on morning hikes and eat pain au chocolat every morning!

i think next month, when we return from france, i’m going to start taking life drawing classes, pole classes, and start making friends (bumble bff is not going well 🥹). if i’m still unemployed i might volunteer at a barn and take care of donkeys but we’ll see how things go!

💘 some gratitudes:

  • very grateful to have seen g-dragon, dpr ian, 2ne1 and other artists live at hitc with the homies!

  • seeing and spending time with the homies before leaving vancouverrrr <3

  • niall taking me to the asian grocery store and supporting my quest in creating the best strawberry matcha in the uk (not hard bc you can’t find it anywhere)

  • british strawberries are undoubtedly the best thing the uk has to offer 🍓

  • blackpink is coming to london and tickets are only £87 (time to turn niall into a bp fan lol)

🚫 some anti-gratitudes:

  • strawberry matcha and boba are rare commodities 😭

  • the rain sucks and no one can tell me otherwise

  • getting red itchy bumps on my legs every time i go out for a run in the grass (i think i am allergic to the outdoors)

  • crashing my bike into a bush of stinging nettle because there was a bug in my face (i was red and bumpy for two days 🤒)

🥤 sipping joos

📺️ okay so tv show wise, i have been really into the latest season of love island usa (slay) and rick & morty (bless uk netflix).

☁️ on the music front, i’ve been listening to so much 2ne1 and g-dragon after head in the clouds along with a lot of jennie, katseye (gnaarrrlyyyyyy) and dpr ian

🍓 lately been on the strawberry matcha grind (if you couldn’t already tell)
